A comedy play written by Kathy Esquivel wraps up its run tonight at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. The production is titled \u201cNeighbourhood Watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking on the morning show Open Your Eyes, Esquivel described the play as light-hearted and interactive. \u201cIt\u2019s a comedy; it doesn\u2019t really have a deep message, except that we should look after each other,\u201d Esquivel said.<\/p>\n
She added that the audience will even become part of the production. \u201cOne of the scenes is a village council meeting, and the audience is at that meeting,\u201d Esquivel stated. \u201cWe want people in the audience to participate.\u201d<\/p>\n
While comedic in nature, Esquivel says the play reflects everyday realities.<\/p>\n
The play\u2019s final performance is scheduled for tonight at the Bliss Center. Tickets can be purchased by contacting 626-7238. General admission tickets cost $20, reserved seating is $40, and VIP tickets are $100.<\/p>\n
\u201cLive theatre is something different; we are really trying to have some fun and raise some money and work to bring theatre back,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
All proceeds from the production will benefit the Mental Health Association\u2019s Welcome Resource Centre, a day centre that provides support for the homeless and mentally ill. \u201cSo people can have a shower, they can have breakfast, lunch, and leisure activities,\u201d Esquivel added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
